How do you track each of your client’s training sessions?
Hi Curtis. I use an Excel spreadsheet. Works well for me. It’s inexpensive (no need to buy any fancy software since it comes loaded on most computers) and is fairly easy to use.

Absolutely! I journal each and every client sessions. Many of my clients return when they feel a stagnation with their program. We can go over past sessions and evaluate our new programming and set goals from this point going forward.
My clients may also bring in their journal and we work our programming from their journal as well.

I personally type each session with a client beforehand. At the top I have Blocks for: Client name; workout focus; experience; Goals; Injuries; Workout days; date; time.
the lower section across the top I have blocks that say: Exercise, Set 1-4, and the a small section for notes.
I also make all my programs a circuit training so they do one set of each exercise and then rest.
On the back its one big section of work out comments. I fill that with any and everything I can. If they mention they are going to their kids recital I write it down there so I can ask them how it went the next time I see them. If they huff over an exercise I write it down. I fill this section with everything I can.

I use a Word document that has their exercise session typed out. I then can make comments in it after we’ve completed their session or sometimes during a warm-up or cool-down if there is something major that I’m following up on, like a previous doctor’s appointment, meetings with a nutritionist, injury recovery, etc.
For some clients who I don’t train as often or train remotely I use the personal trainer version of FitnessBuilder.com to log, track, create and even email workouts or exercise descriptions to them.
