I motivate myself by looking at what I am doing and why I am doing it everday. When I have a moment of self pity or a lackidaisical attitude, I like to look in the mirror and ask myself, “Why are you here? What are contributing to make your community a better place?” And so far the answer is “I am here to help people in my community live healthier and happier lives!”
By “practicing what I preach.” I know that if I don’t pursue in my own lifestyle what I suggest to clients, then I am being a hypocrite. I also know that if I stay fit, then I will be much more able to share and teach the details of a fitness lifestyle to my clients. As Harris suggests, an upcoming race is always a great motivator.
