After edifying all of there actions and positive efforts, if this does not change their motivation, I help them refocus their goals from calculated measurements of girth and weight to effort driven goals. When clients think of goal setting in regards to fitness, most focus on results that if impatient, will discourage their efforts. This goal setting strategy allows the client to back off of the constant urge to see physical results, and to patiently refocus on continuous effort and positive habit creation that produce constant small achievements. I always find that motivating the client to focus on effort driven goals, such as, frequency of training (ex. 60 mins for 3 times per week), dieting habits, sleep schedule, etc. allows them to realize fitness as a lifestyle and not just a quick fix.
