How do you make more money?
As a fitness professional there tends to be an income ceiling. But many pros are finding ways to make more money and burst through that ceiling. Are you one of those pros? What do you do to make more money? I’m looking for out-of-the-box ideas that your fellow professionals can take advantage of to enhance their bottom line. Your idea might be featured in an upcoming IDEA Health & Fitness Association publication. Thanks in advance!

Hi Ryan. Writing is a big one for me. I’ve authored wellness, exercise and fitness articles for a number of hard copy and online publications leading to a fairly steady stream of ‘additional income.’ Articles, ebooks and even a Continuing Education course for fitness professionals are all areas that have provided me with an outlet for my love of writing and educating.
A second one for me has been in serving as an Adjunct Faculty for local Community Colleges. This is a great way to reach a wider audience with a message of wellness while at the same time earning some additional income.
I hope that this helps.

I’d like to add providing training to other trainers has been very helpful. I recently partnered with Balanced Body to offer their Anatomy in Three Dimensions class and it is looking to be very successful for me as an additional revenue stream. It is also very rewarding to help other instructors increase their knowledge. For example I assisted Nora St. John at Idea Personal Trainer West when she taught the core and the lower leg workshops. It was a joy to take other workshops during the rest of the weekend and have people come up and mention how helpful the anatomy we covered was in understanding exactly what the other great presenters were talking about.
