How do you implement small group training in a gym
I am fairly strict on my small group programs. I charge one third less than my single person rate per person in the group. I don’t let groups get bigger than 4 people. It could be more money, but the quality goes down. And they may as well just go to a big box gym or rec center with more than 4 people. Most of my groups are 2 people. But I don’t actively try to create groups. If people come to me looking to form a small group, I set it up. The particulars are worked out with each group.
Hello Heidi Nates,
Good for you; group classes are so enjoyable and beneficial for all involved.
Just post a sign about the Group Sessions you now offer and hold the classes for the word to get out. Run the class for anyone and everyone, even if only one shows up.
About price, you will want to go over your costs to decide what to charge. The typical rate for a group client with no other membership is about ten dollars per person per class. You will need to do your homework for rates in your area. The other way to figure price is decide what you need and want to earn for that time slot then divide the dollar amount by the number of participants who sign up to get the individual rate. People do not get a refund without a great excuse for missing the class. Instead of refunds tell them their payment is good for the next available session.
You may or may not want a separate room for group sessions. If in a separate room, take the class out for a walking drill to help advertise the group session. Please, remember to always keep the music down to a respectable level so it is only heard in the background. Protect ears and the trainer’s voice.
Thank you,
Natalie
