I am part of a smaller spin studio and I am struggling to create a following. It was easy when I worked at “big box” gym but I don’t know if it’s me, my teaching style, the market… but I am having a hard time creating a following and getting people to come to my classes. Do you have any suggestions/tips/recommendations to help people get excited and/or market myself?
How long have you been teaching at that particular studio? Sometimes it takes a while to get to know members personally, what their likes are, and what they expect from you. Sometimes it’s those little things that will keep people coming back to your classes. Smile and greet each person by name. Make the time to get to know each member and a few things about them to strike up a conversation. You could always survey those who do attend to get an idea of what they would like to see in your class. I do this once in a while in my classes to keep myself in checks and balances and see what others really want.
In terms of marketing, social media is one way to get the word out there. Holding a “bring a friend for free class” would be another idea if it’s allowed where you work. Get members excited about their next workout by announcing what you will do (a theme, etc..)
Above all, be yourself and in time you will create a following.
