Does anyone know the actual formula for calculating max capacity of a room when programming for group exercise classes? I know there’s a real formula to follow that takes into account the amount of space needed per person and multiplies it with the area of the space but I can’t find it anywhere. Can anyone offer any insight?
There is no standard equation. The capacity is determined by the dimensions of the space, the type of movements being performed, and things such as are all participants moving at the same time, etc. There should be no chance that participants could bump into one another while moving. How you set up the class will determine as much as the dimensions of the space.
