Does anyone know the actual formula for calculating max capacity of a room when programming for group exercise classes? I know there’s a real formula to follow that takes into account the amount of space needed per person and multiplies it with the area of the space but I can’t find it anywhere. Can anyone offer any insight?
I think this is a bit high, but it’s more specific to a group-ex studio than the first article.
This one is even better, because it gives you some rules regarding building codes. (although you should probably also check with local building codes if you’re building something out)
Hello Kayla Evans,
I thank you for this question so we have all the links Nancy offers.
I go by how many I am able to handle; then, if there is the room, I go by the equipment used: spin around with the jump rope folded in half in one hand; or, the height of the person times two for body work only. I go with more space for bigger games planned.
