I have a 72 yr. old male client who is making tremendous progress (and can work circles around a couple of my 40-something guys) but complains about the struggles of aging at least once a week. He has always been a high energy, go-go-go type person, but the last couple years his body isn’t allowing that as much anymore.
Any suggestions on helping him with mindset and embracing the aging process?
Hello Jasmine Cabrera,
Remind him of what you told us about working circles around others.
Everyone is giving helpful suggestions that I agree with implementing.
One more tip to try to uplift someone is to play music from their era; this puts the person’s mindset back in that time and has been proven to be beneficial mentally as well as physically.
This may be the time to suggest gentler regressive movements which are also beneficial.
Our bodies are made to operate optimally 30-40 years; so, he is probably feeling and seeing the decline when he watches others do what he used to do easily. I tell a certain someone that he is still “bull of the woods” to me.
Men seem to take aging harder than women; hard to accept getting “weaker”. I don’t like it either; but, it is more acceptable for a woman…why?
Growing old is not for the faint of heart or the weak; only the strong make it to “old age”.
I hope this helps; good luck; growing older is getting wiser and moving through space, not just age. I am sure he has been and is still a wonderful asset to the community and his family.

How the perceive themselves is important and certainly not going to be easy to answer for them. Applauding his progress! That is fantastic. I like the idea of SENIOR GAMES. It’s hard to navigate the thought processes of the aging adult. Especially since they’re so active! It might be beneficial as mentioned before that he volunteer at a local senior center.
I am also looking for a good book on this topic because I’m writing an essay. As an example, I found many examples on this topic on this site https://gradesfixer.com/free-essay-examples/civil-rights-movement/ to observe the structure. Maybe someone knows good sources other than books? If you need some free essay examples, then visit this site. I am waiting for your recommendations. Thanx in advance!
