I have a 72 yr. old male client who is making tremendous progress (and can work circles around a couple of my 40-something guys) but complains about the struggles of aging at least once a week. He has always been a high energy, go-go-go type person, but the last couple years his body isn’t allowing that as much anymore.
Any suggestions on helping him with mindset and embracing the aging process?

Remind him of what you told us about working circles around others.
Everyone is giving helpful suggestions that I agree with implementing.
One more tip to try to uplift someone is to play music from their era; this puts the person’s mindset back in that time and has been proven to be beneficial mentally as well as physically.
This may be the time to suggest gentler regressive movements which are also beneficial.
Our bodies are made to operate optimally 30-40 years; so, he is probably feeling and seeing the decline when he watches others do what he used to do easily. I tell a certain someone that he is still “bull of the woods” to me.
Men seem to take aging harder than women; hard to accept getting “weaker”. I don’t like it either; but, it is more acceptable for a woman…why?
Growing old is not for the faint of heart or the weak; only the strong make it to “old age”.
I hope this helps; good luck; growing older is getting wiser and moving through space, not just age. I am sure he has been and is still a wonderful asset to the community and his family.
