How Do I get featured in some of these fitness magazines and sites?
Sometimes you just have to walk right into the office. If you did that, people would admire the hustle and maybe give you a shot. Also, try explaining the benefit of featuring you to them.
Hope this helps,

HELLO Nicole
Have you written article queries? It has been my experience that many publications have a “closed to new writers policy” and others will allow you to write them a query. How about checking the websites for query instuctions?

I am not sure what you mean by featured, but I would guess that there exists hundreds of thousands of fitness professionals with an interest in being recognized. Often times writers are not practioners in their field but excelent writers and detectives. Consider – what makes you unique? What do you possess that can change someone’s life? What specific skills do you come to naturally?
Look at your sphere of influence. Do you know someone who knows someone in a position to help you along?
Start with a small local publication and do it for free and see how it is accepted.
All the best
Danielle
Hey Nicole,
Getting featured in a magazine will not get you much acclaim besides putting their logo or icon on your blog/website as “featured in” which will give you more clout to your current contacts or prospective clients.
Blogging, newsletters, this site, and speaking engagements are all great ways to get noticed and build an expert presence.
BUT if you do want to get featured in magazines or on news/TV shows, sign up for HARO.com (help a reporter out). They give you an email 3 times a day with magazines, TV, radio and other print looking for fitness folks to be featured or take part in fitness articles.
I got featured in on CNN, Better Homes & Garden and WUSA9 by them doing a search and finding my blog or their employees were followers of my blog, or on twitter/Facebook 🙂
Hope this helps!
Kimberly
