How do I generate more clients?
Hi Jennifer,
It can take some time to build your client base, and getting your profile on IDEA is a great start. Your profile is important, but it is only one avenue to attract clients. One thing that may help you is to add client testimonials to your profile. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to build your business and client base.
Do you have any other social media connections to your business, like Facebook or Twitter or Linkedin? It may help to get your name out there. Do you teach any classes? That is another great way to get to know potential clients. Other avenues are running specials/contests and becoming active in your community. Donate some of your time when you are able to get your name out there.
Others will have more suggestions, but I hope some of these help you! Good luck to you.
Christine
Great profile
I suggest getting involved in your community
Join the Chamber of Commerce
Offer group fitness at a local gym, you may get one on one clients from that.
Start an outdoor bootcamp, again, great exposure and you may get one on one clients
Wear a T Shirt with your logo on it
Put a magnet on your car with your business info on it
Ask your local paper to write a fitness column
Do you have a website? If not create one
Participate in Health Fairs
Put your cards/flyers everywhere
Offer your current clients some type of reward for referrels
Hi Jennifer,
I have a couple of questions for you. Do you currently have any training clients? And my second question is – where are you looking to train people – in their homes or in a gym? I think we can all give you some better advice if we knew a little more about your situation. However, you’ve gotten some pretty good advice to this point.

I really like Sue’s answer. It is almost exactly what I would advise. I don’t offer rewards though for referrals. When I did years ago, it didn’t seem to help. I got just as many referrals without rewards. And those clients that did referrals for a reward seemed to expect special treatment more often. That is hard for me to do since I try very hard to treat every client in the best possible manner.
