I have a client I have trained for almost 2 years who travels every 8-10 weeks internationally for 2-3 weeks at a time. I have been providing him travel programs, but he has expressed interest in having me travel with him to train him in person on these trips. I am at a loss in how I would charge for this, he would be paying for my flight, but I am also giving up sessions with other clients during this time. Does anyone have a similar situation, and how do you charge?
If I were in this position I would take a few things into consideration.
Do I want to go to the location? If it is somewhere that I would want to vacation to, then I might use the opportunity to do so. I would expect my travel expenses to be paid and the time I spend with the client to be paid.
If the location was not one that interested me, I would still expect to have my travel expenses paid. But I would add an additional charge for the cost of lost business. I would of course, discuss it with the client.
Clients that make such requests usually don’t have issues with the fees. Also, be sure that you are reading the intent correctly. Some clients may be interested in more than a few workouts.
