I am an Independent Trainer working out of a gym for over 2 years. I offer free first session, package specials, do different events (free seminars on working abs, cardio, fitness assessments etc), I have a Facebook fan page, offer Bootcamps and do a monthly newsletter. It’s been a slow go and I need to increase my income. Do you have any other suggestions
Word of mouth, word of mouth, word of mouth! I have never advertised, but have always given my clients exceptional service and results. The reward has been more referrals than I can handle.I also never do free sessions or packages, as I feel that devalues what I do. That said I would suggest you do even more to get known in your community. I have spoken to PTA’s,coaches associations and the Girl Scouts. I also volunteered as a softball coach (for my daughter and out of love for the sport), and I had many parents ask me about training. I have a written a column and articles for local papers. They did pay me a nominal fee, but perhaps you could barter for ad space. This worked great to get my name out, and I am often contacted by reporters as a local expert. I agree with Rebecca that Fitness Connect is great resource, I have had many contacts through it.
