I try to avoid that in an e-mail message. I try to get them to at least call me. I’ll e-mail back a message like this: “I offer several different training options at different prices – please give me a call at 610 – ###-##### so we can discuss your needs . . . . . you get the idea. Then I get to basically screen them on the phone to see if they’re tire kickers or really serious. If I get a good drift, I’ll spend some time on the phone with them & then try to schedule a consultation at there home. If I don’t get a good feeling about it, I’ll just rattle off my pricing & that usually ends the conversation quickly. You don’t want to waste your time with tire kickers who are pretty much just price shopping. Always look for an opportunity to sell yourself (at least a little bit) before you drop your rates on them. I hope that helps – good luck Jennifer!
One last note – Be careful of Craigslist. You never know who you’re dealing with – personally, I would avoid it for my training services. But if you’re selling a piano – it’s fine!
