Hi everyone! I just passed my NASM CPT test and been blessed to land a 2nd comprehensive interview at Gold’s gym. Need help~
I just completed my 1st initial interview with the fitness manager and he wants to see again this week. This time, I guess I will be doing more of the “hands on” work at the gym. If anybody has experience doing this, I would definitely appreciate some tips & advice (what I will be expecting, techniques, etc) Thanks!!!
Hi Jason,
Biggest recommendation I have is to observe and listen. Observe all of the trainers you are working with, see what is key for their business or what works for them. Listen to your clients, even if they are talking about their grandmothers 80th birthday.
You will constantly be continuing your education overtime and adding tools to your toolbox.
Happy to help if you have any other questions.
Cheers,
Devin Parrick

You just finished your cert. You are as ready to follow the book as you will ever be. So, don’t sweat the practical interview. Be yourself and do what you think is right. The interviewer may be critical in giving you feedback. That is the nature of the position. Take all feedback with a smile and be accepting. Don’t let yourself get irritated with the process. Being positive and up beat will be a better overall approach. Good luck.
Most likely (as in the majority of commercial gyms) he will either give you a scenario and then you will have to come up with a plan or he will ask you to train either another trainer or pick a member from the floor and have you assess him/her and come up with a workout plan (which you will have to put the member through). I am not a fan of this type of option for many reasons, but it is what it is. Good luck!
