Are you saying the smell is coming from the breath? Have you asked your client what his or her diet is composed of? It may be what Joseph was hinting. If your clients diet is composed of mostly protein and fat with very little carbohydrates, your body is put into a ketogenic state, where ketones (derived from the breakdown of fat) are used as an individual’s main source of energy. It leads to a change in the person’s breath that is maintained until the diet is changed to include more carbohydrates.
Dawn,They are not eating enough carbs. Remember that carbs protect protein from being broken down for fuel (gluconeogenesis).
Without enough carbs, protein is broken down and ammonia is formed in the process which can be smelled. Solution: cut back on the intensity of exercise (if they are working out intensly) and eat more carbs.
Hope that helps
Could the smell be coming from the clothing? That’s pretty odd. I have not experienced that but would like to hear from others. Something tells me there’s a cat involved!
