When designing an exercise program for a person who has multiple health challenges, which of the following would be most effective in helping to achieve “initial adherence” and program success?
a. establishing a series of short, achievable goals
b. developing good rapport with the client to enhance client self-esteem
c. providing education on the positive effects of exercise
d. helping the client focus on a primary goal of reducing the need for medication
Acheivable short term goals would be the most reasonable answer to initial adherence problems. It takes time to build rapport. I don’t know that rapport will translate to improved self-esteem. Providing education also takes time to be effective as well. Focusing on reducing medication is not in our scope of practice.
