Health Risk and Forward Head Posture
Hi Dee,
Here is a link to an article on forward head posture and the effect it has on our spine–among other things.
(this one stems from texting):

Forward head posture has a great number of risks associated with it. And these risks and issues have been shown to worsen with age. A great many older Americans who have neglected addressing this issue find it difficult to breath, swallow, and perform ADLs such as driving. The earlier this is addressed and taken seriously, the better will be the outcome.
As with the environment, social inequality, etc. nothing is often done until it is too late or nearly too late. I try to get my clients to see fitness as something to be proactive about now, not to put it off until they have no choice.
H Dee,
there was a great article in the Washington Post of that very subject http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/11/20/text-neck-i…. It talks about the problems arising from a head forward posture. They are linking it to the posture people assume when texting.

Hello Dee Stauffer,
What exactly are you asking?
Anytime someone is out of proper body alignment there are risk factors. It depends on the cause, etiology, compensation and treatment, how severe those risks may or may not become. There are the spine and nerves in the cervical area which will affect the head and arms…I am not a doctor, this is basic anatomy, just for an example.
Try to use proper body alignment as much as possible and be sure to speak with the proper authorities on the subject: doctors and who they recommend.
Take care,
Natalie aka NAPS 2 B Fit.
