Yeah, it happened to me when I had not eaten for a while before I lifted. Make sure you eat healthy, but filling meals and remember to stay hydrated.
If she has already been cleared by a doctor for the dizziness as she says and they can find no cause for it, I may dig deeper into why her session the other day went fine, but others caused her to be dizzy for hours afterward? Did you change the program? Did she change a medication? Take it at a different time or different dose? Did she eat prior to your session? How soon to your session? A detailed outline of her day and what she did prior to the session and afterward, as well as what changes you made, may help clue both of you into what is causing her dizzy spells.
It could also be an inner ear issue. You mentioned that she is a swimmer. Water or inflamation in the ear can often cause balance issues. This might be what she is experiencing. Its quite common in swimmers.
Also, women experience menopausal symptoms for years, before menopause and after. It could be a temperature control issue brought on by changing hormones. Her body gets overheated, but due to hormonal changes, does not always signal to the body that its overheated, although it will act that way to protect itself. Much like hot flashes.
As you can see, there could be tons of issues. A detailed daily plan can help to give both you and her some insights. But like the others stated, if its a real concern of hers, even though she’s already been cleared to exercise, I’d have her follow up with a physician and push for an answer till she gets one.

I would definitely find out the reason for this. There are many doctors out there from all nationalities. I would prefer speaking with a female doctor who has gone through menopause, if at all possible. You may get the most from someone who has more experience with this.
You may also want to refer to a registered dietitian.
Until then, please refrain from anything that causes dizziness.

I should have explained more. In her assessment she told me that she’s been having the dizziness since she started menopause like 15 years ago. The doctors have no idea why. It’s like that with my Mom too. Yesterday we did basic TRX moves, squat, lunge, etc and a few band exercises. I called her today to see how she’s doing. She said “GREAT”. She didn’t have any dizziness when she got home and says she can feel her muscles today and the lactic acid build up but she feels stronger already! 🙂 That was good to hear!
Anyway this lady has an endless pool she swims in everyday and an eliptical. I think she’s a victim of her hormones cause she gained 50 pounds when she hit menopause.
Tim, this may be a bit TMI, but the straining is not weight related.
She told me she doesn’t like meat and I suggested she consume more protein in other forms. I will ask her again about what the doctor said.
