Hi Joy. I don’t really have what you’d call an “affiliate program” with other health care providers, but I do have a referral system set-up. So far, it’s worked pretty well for me as I do cross-referrals with a local nutritionist, and physical therapists.
I like your question because I truly think that this is a “wave of the future” for us as personal trainers and fitness professionals. Thanks for asking.
I work with a New Parent Support Group at the local Naval Hospital. Once a month I offer a class to them on how to find time to exercise, the importance of exercise and demonstrate some sample exercises to new parents and parents to be. I have found that it not only has improved my credibility within the community, but especially with the local ob/gyn clinic. They often refer clients to me and I refer clients back to them as well.
I do not charge for this class, but offer it as a pro-bono work. I have business cards available and often stay after to answer individual questions or sign up potential new clients. Even those who have not become clients, have refered me to friends of theirs. But mainly, I’ve found it good for the heart and soul. I know I’m really helping people and a clientele that I’m insanely passionate about, new moms and moms to be!
