Has there been a discussion of fitness trackers, like Nike Fuelband, Fitbit, etc.?
Hi Jane,
there were a few. Do you have a specific question in mind? I use the Fitbit myself and just enjoy it for the fun of it.
I also happen to run a walking program where everybody got a step counter when they signed up. It is a less sophisticated model but it can be uploaded to a computer, and the user can also add more information to their profile. It is quite amazing for me to see how motivating this little device is for the senior group. People love to see numbers; it makes things more tangible.

Hi Jane,
I have clients who are using both of the above brands and they have positive opinions about them. It’s a matter of which one you like, and your budget. Below is a link from Amazon which you might find it interesting:

And as Karin mentioned there have been a few discussions regarding these products. You are welcome to click at any of the questions from the right column (under “Related Questions”…these are questions posted here in the past).
I hope this helps!
Best,
Harris
Fitbit, Nike Fuelband, heart rate monitors, and other gadgets are all great motivational tools. Their value is dependent on individual need, want, or desire. I have used, and use many, but I consider the client’s amenability and the desired goal.
I have also found that certain people get transfixed on bells and whistles to the point of ineffectiveness. As a trainer you want to tap into your intuition in deciding when to hold and when to fold.
