I have studied the FMS system. It is a fine system. I use a simpler system to evaluate movement at all of the joints. And I start all clients with a foundation movment program in a conservative progression format. I have used it piece meal for some of my athletic clients in attempting to determine the root of movement issues. But I use it along with a number of other screening techniques to zero in on dysfunction/issues.

I have considered it. I took a session at IDEA with Carla Sottovia who is an expert in it. I think it is a great tool when you work with athletes. I don’t believe it is as applicable for the general population. If a ‘normal’ client can even get into the test position, I am sure you’d get one ‘fail’ after the other. For me, the NASM assessments work very well for my clients.
