Has anyone ever been through the certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition? Is this a legitimate organization?
I have a friend from high school who has gone through their program and I know a few others who have as well. I am going to take their program but I am not sure when I will start.
It is a legitimate program and completion of the program prepares you to be a health coach. You will also qualify for membership in the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP) http://www.aadp.net/default.asp. Always remember, though, to follow the guidelines in your state for nutrition and dietary professionals when you tell people what you do. In some states terms like “nutritionist” or “dietician” require a license so be sure to check that out.
But in terms of IIN’s program, it’s totally legit. If you saw “Super Size Me” where Morgan Spurlock ate only McDonald’s for 30 days, his detox was put together by his girlfriend and IIN grad Alexandra Jamieson. Here is her website: http://deliciousvitality.com/. I hope that helps!
Update 8/27/11: I am now enrolled in IIN. I was not at the time I answered your question but it prompted me to get it done! And the program is 11 months long.
Update 1/26/12: Still enrolled in IIN and having a great time! I have learned so much in the past few months and the learning is excellent. There are more IIN grads and students out there than I realized and I’ll be able to start taking clients next week! Let me know if anyone still has questions!
