For an overweight person, do you use light weight,more reps or heavy weight, few reps?

I use a well balanced well designed program to meet their goals and improve their fitness and lifestyle. The resistance training is similar for most weight loss clients in that it is completely dependent on the client. From there it is an ongoing process of assessment, instruction, progression and regression, adjustment of parameters, etc.
All clients should be assessed, interviewed, contribute to program design, and monitored in all aspects of the program. This is not done by many fitness professionals to the extent that it should. But hopefully this is an ongoing process for all of us as well. And we are all improving and learning along with our clients everyday.
