Following up with clients after they are finished training with you
I sell personal training packages & I usually follow up after the client is on their own asking them how things are going etc. Most of the times I get answers or questions back, which Im happy to deal with. Does anyone follow up with those particular clients that you haven’t seen since your last session in the gym? I knew this was going to be the case from day one with this one particular client. It been weeks no sign of her in the gym at all. What would you do?
I work in the field of education. Students often use educational resources for quick results. It reminds me of doping or sports nutrition. You can write a dissertation for several days. I learned that this practice https://writingpeak.co.uk/dissertation-help helps save time. I think that in sports universities such resources will help to focus on professional subjects.
I’m not sure how to explain this well, but I’ll try.
When I train clients, I try not to have a finite finish. In addition to sessions purchased, I integrate them into group-ex classes where I’ll see them in and out of the gym. I also have conversations throughout their sessions to ensure that they are going well and feel supported. They have access to my private Facebook group for clients, and we often follow each other on fb / instagram. Thus, there is more connection going on than just during the hour they are with me. Even when the training sessions are over, many clients stay in my private groups (and they’re welcome to) and we stay fb friends and I keep their contact info in my phone.
That’s not possible with everyone. Some people don’t use Facebook, or they move, or they change gyms. But the kinds of clients who are attracted to me tend to value the relationship that I offer. Many of my one-on-one clients come to me because they met me in group-ex first, so even when our PT sessions are done, I see them in group-ex.
Hi Joan,
My comment to you didn’t go through so I am answering here. I would let it go. Some people find it easier to ignore us instead of responding to us. I wish all people would feel comfortable enough to be honest and communicate their feelings with us better. This does not reflect on you in any way. I would throw all my energy into helping people who want and appreciate our help. I feel your frustration. Times like this call for self care with meditation and something you enjoy. This client may have been pushed too early or may have another issue to handle.
Thank you,
Natalie ~

Hi Natalie,
I always follow up with my clients within the first two weeks after they have finished they’re sessions with me. I know all about everything you mentioned in your response. I will rephrase my post. After the first or second follow up, I sent her a text twice she didn’t answer it. She has not been in the gym since 1/8/19, should I contact her again? I am feeling like it will be a waste of my time at this point. Does anyone ever feel this way? I hate feeling this way. I want her to be successful, but she was unambitious from the start & I think that is just her personality. You know some people think by getting a trainer they will be all set, which on our behalf you have given them a workout design that is best for them and they should be all set if their mindset is ready. If they don’t have the motivation to continue on their own, its really not our fault & I never have that happen. I am very successful at what I do, but when you get that ONE person it bothers you, at least me anyway. Thank you
