Feedback on NASM’s WLS and Behavior Management Specialist Courses
Hi Becky,
I am now almost halfway through the BCS course. It is completely different from the WLS. It is an excellent course and gives a lot of background as well as practical information. The WLS gave me some good information but it was not something that was very foreign to me. The BCS is all about behavior, and while weight loss is the most common reason why people come to us, this material will apply to just any are in your life that would improve through behavior modification.
I like it a lot and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Hi Becky,
I just printed the course material. This one is VERY different from the WLS, and I am really impressed with what I saw so far. It goes into many of the behavior change models, provides a lot of resources such as suggested forms and promises to be a rather unique course which is definitely closer to counseling than to fitness.

Hi Becky,
I have just signed up for the BCS; I did the WLS earlier in the year. I have not yet looked at the course material but would expect some overlap. Of course, the WLS looks at the mechanics of weight loss with exercise progression recommendations.I do not expect to see that at the BCS but anticipate a more generic approach to behavior change that can be applied to other areas such as smoking cessation.
Since the course has just been launched, you may not get that many takers who can give you are more comprehensive answer.
