Not knowing what your wrote, and having competed and coached in the heat of Arizona, New Mexico and the southeast, the one key consideration is adequate hydration. Frequent consumption of 2-3 ounces of fluid is critical. Also, replenishment of glucose (banana, “power bar” type foods) is especially important in long duration events.
