Exercise/Fitness Demo Ideas??
I’ll be hosting a promo table (10’x10′ space) outdoors at a festival. I’m planning to have promo materials and exercise demos performed. Anyone have any type of “outside the box,” eye-catching ideas/demos that they used that has been successful. I will be promoting a “Ask the Expert” session but was looking for something else to gain peoples interest. Any thoughts or ideas are welcomed, and much appreciated.
Thank you!
You could also do a timed Push-up Test, such as how many push-ups in 30 seconds and post the results on a poster board on your table…Any type of test like this could draw attention.

Hi Louis. I hope that your event went well! Although I’m sure that this answer is too late for the event you were asking about, certainly it can be used for future such events. I like to use games. I have participated in several corporate health fairs and I’ve found that there is nothing that attracts attention and a crowd at one of these events than getting people having fun by playing a ‘fitness game’ of some sort. I often will use a fitness trivia game for example and pit co-workers against one another with the winner winning a small fitness-related prize of some sort. Once co-workers get to laughing, berating, encouraging and smack-talking each other, the fun begins!
I hope that this helps.

Make noise, give away prizes, wear T Shirts that attract attention
Blow a whistle, play music
Remember if you do any sort of analyses make sure they have signed a release form, I’m not sure this is the place to do any sort of assessments personally
I would have short exercise demos: pass out flyers, have a T Shirt give away contest, raffle off your services with small prizes such as water bottles with your name on it etc
I was at a festival 2 years ago and the USMC had a table. They had a chalkboard with 3 timed events (push-ups, sit-ups and full squats, I think). Next to each was a name and a number. It was an on-going competition. At the end of the day, the people with their name still up there (most number completed in set time-frame), received an award.
They always had a crowd. And there were other marines around talking about the Marine Corps and recruiting. I thought it was a great was to garner interest, get names, numbers and contact info for follow up and easy to perform, so not a lot of equipment or personnel was required.
You can make it as simple as conducting overhead squat analyses…Have visitors at your table complete an Over Head Squat and then write down their body imbalances and areas for improvement. This analysis displays their strengths, flexibility, and mobility. This increases your added value as a trainer by being able to diagnose their body within the first 5 minutes of meeting them! The customer will then ask you how to fix their imbalance. That’s when you sell your service!…Simple and effective.
You could also do a timed Push-up Test, such as how many push-ups in 30 seconds and post the results on a poster board on your table…Any type of test like this could draw attention.
Good luck!
