Buy ‘fresh!’ Prepared foods, packaged for our convenience are generally more expensive. By buying foods in their uncooked, unprepared state, you will generally save a substantial amount of money from your food budget. Cooking these foods at home is easier than many people think, it’s also fun (if you do it with a loved one), and is much less expensive.
I hope that this helps.
You have many great ideas here. I will add that I also grow some of our own food. Even apartment dwellers can plant something in a windowsill pot. Every little bit helps. I have seen city dwellers with chickens, also.
Eating in and preparing your own food is so much healthier that you will save on the more expensive medical costs, which will not be as common, anymore.
Buying fresh yields more food in your basket than buying prepared. Try making a small amount of a packaged item, like a can of soup, then compare it to the storebought. You will always save by making your own meals.
Now, enjoy making some great meals in bulk, then freeze and/or can for later.
