Does anyone know of a personal trainer refresher course?
I was certified about a year ago and, due to my family/personal situation, was not able to pursue seeing clients until now. I continued to teach some group fitness classes, keep up on professional reading, take some courses here and there… I’m interested in finding out if there are ways to sort of brush up on some basic CPT skills.
It sounds to me that you did a pretty good job keeping up despite not working with any clients. I would continue what you’re doing plus review your materials for the certification exam you took. It’s like most fields – the education never stops. Once you start applying what you know to some actual clients, you’ll be on your way. Good luck Eileen.

Hi Eileen,
Since your certification is still current, you can always refer back to your materials for some educational review.
For more practical review, is there someone you can think of as a mentor for a while? You may not necessarily need this, but it may help you feel more comfortable to shadow someone for a little while or at least to ask questions. You can also try your skills out on friends and family members. This may help to build your confidence and put you at ease.
Good luck, there is always something new to learn in this field–but I’m willing to bet you know more than you think!
