Does anyone have ideas for what I can call my personal training business.
I’m trying to start my own personal training business but cannot come up with a name. I want it to focus on providing a healthy lifestyle for people, but not limit myself just to bootcamps etc. I want it to be something easy to remember and interesting. I have a fun personality so I would like it to reflect that.
Hi Natasha,
You are already on the right track with the details you provided. Maybe using something in conjunction with your last name – “Freeburn” which gives your personal name recognition and would be easy for others to remember and associate with fitness. I also highly recommend you get an available domain name that is identical or close to your business name if at all possible; just don’t make the domain name too long. Lastly if you can use the same name for Facebook, Twitter and/or other accounts if you intend on using those mediums as well; for advertising or to have people find you.
If I was to give you a specific idea, it would be Freeburn Fitness Academy; or something to that effect. It has your name, easy to remember, and you should be able to get a .com domain name using that or some derivative of that. The “Academy” gives your business a sense that it is more than just personal training or boot camp programs.
Then you can come up with a slogan or tagline that indicates or describes your personality in more depth.

Hi Natasha,
Jonathan already pointed out some great ideas for you to follow. I would also go with a name that is associated with your last name. For my company’s name, I used part of my last name and then I added Fit at the end (SophoFit). I also offer classes as well as private and semi-private sessions, both indoors and outdoors. If you are trying to build a new brand, why not have your own name behind it? But, that’s just my opinion :-).
Good luck!

Hello Natasha,
Those were great points from the gentlemen up top but I am going to take a different route. I honestly wouldn’t use your last name. Think about the future when you have a built a solid clientele base and you decide to hire on a few more coaches. Because your last name is the name of the business they are only going to want to train with you because they will believe that you are the best there. I would start with what your core values are. What fires you up when you think about helping others? What one word resonates with WHY you want to be in the fitness field. Do a little digging in your heart first and then it will most definitely come to you. Hope that helps.
Hi Natasha,
to add to all the others: do not forget that you will have to register your company as a legal entity, and that means that your name must be unique in your state of business. You should be able to search for this online. I agree with the others that your business name and your domain name should be the same or a logical abbreviation. I find that for the domain name, the shorter the better so people don’t have to remember a long name.

Have you asked some friends? Your name should really call out to you, feel good and be an expression of what you want to do and offer to people. A name that is not limiting is very good, so if you branch out to other parts of fitness, your name wont sound limiting. Also, Like Karin said, before you use a name you like, check that it is not already used. I did a web search first, just type in www.NAME.com (obviously its the name you choose) and see if someone is using it or not. If they are, and you like it, is there a way you can change it a bit to make it yours? Add your state abbreviation on it, or something like that.
