I thought of one more that has been very helpful to me: it is called “The End of Overeating” and is by David Kessler. It is not only a review of the factors that lead to overeating but is also a very candid review of somebody who has walked in those shoes. I always try to empathize but some issues are difficult to imagine. His book has given me a very valuable insight into the mindset of somebody who feels quite powerless in the face of food and has helped me approach overweight clients even better. It has afforded me a way to open the subject in a way that the clients feel understood in their emotional framework.
