Does anyone have any good NEW ideas for a motivational program to kick the new year off with?
I am looking for something different to kick off the new year that will motivate and encourage people in their wellness lifestyle. Something different, not the same old things everyone does! It needs to be simple, as many of the participants will be seniors! If it’s too complicated they definately will not adhere to it!! LOL! I am hoping for something new, creative, and FUN!!
Maggie,
I’d like to suggest a book I personally find useful as far as coming up with ideas for a group of people. You can always adapt the ideas for the seniors you are working with.
I hope you find it helpful too.
The name of the book is called “Health Promotion Ideas That Work – 84 Proven Activities for the Workplace. It’s written by Timothy E. Glaros.
Here’s another idea…
Have you ever considered become Silver Sneakers certified? The Silver Sneakers program is geared toward seniors 65 years old and older. I found that after taking that course, I became more effective and my seniors as the four nursing homes I teach at love it.
By the way, I teach Zumba Gold and it has really given me more ideas as far as choreography is concerned for Zumba Gold.
I hope these ideas are helpful to you.
I like a point system that has the person competing with themselves. I don’t like competition against other people in health and fitness because then you are hoping other people fail. In sports this is fine, but with health and fitness we should want everyone to do as good as possible. They could receive a certain number of points for workouts, stretching, and nutrition.
YES!!! Definitely look into Body Back! www.bodybackworkout.com
It’s an instructor certification for a results-based program for moms. It has nutritional coaching, high intensity workouts, motivational and inspirational components…just what moms need (moms of ANY age!). It has been an amazing program to offer!! Check it out…
