Does anybody hold either a Boxing or Kickboxing Certification?
I was wondering which program you went through and whether you would recommend it. I have found a few online however I am unsure where to begin. I recently received my group fitness cert – however I am not necessarily looking for just group fitness kickboxing. I have taken an MMA style kickboxing class and would love to incorporate a lot more of that in my one on one training.
I am certified with TurboKick as well, although pre-formatted choreography has been uncomfortable for me with my additional kickboxing experience.
I have also been certified by Billy Blanks in TaeBo. I highly recommend this experience, although costly and time-consuming. Changed me forever.
Additionally, in the NYC area, Michael Olajide Jr., of AeroBox fame, has recently announced that he is offering an AeroBox certification. I don’t have the $ for it this time around, but having used his videos for years and visited his studio for classes, I cannot say enough how awesome this would be.
I also have a friend who is a master instructor for AFAA Boxing and Kickboxing certification workshops, which are supposed to be good.
A lot of these certifications take place over the course of only 1 day or a weekend, and I think we all know that you could never learn all you should in that time frame. Previous experience, good form and a love of the format will make the difference. A lot of gyms, from what I’ve seen, do not necessarily require a specialty cert for cardio kickboxing, only an impressive audition and an understanding of form & safety.
