Does any one know what is going on with National Fitness in Layton, Utah? They are keeping our money!
I have received numerous calls from across the country concerning National Fitness in Layton, Utah keeping fitness clubs wire transfer funds that have not been deposited back to the clubs. The Utah Attorney Generals Office has received complaints as well as the Utah State Consumer Affairs. We still do not have our funds. The FBI should have a case number but not sure of it.
Thank you for posting this. I could not understand at first what the question is, but in doing a bit of research I found out that National Fitness is a company that contracts with gyms to collect membership dues and to send those back to the clubs. It would seem that there are, to put it mildly, some issues with this company…. rarely have I seen a company that doesn’t earn above a one star rating on multiple rating sites, in spite of accumulating dozens of ratings. I was somewhat startled when one reviewer referred to it as the antichrist. That seems a fairly strong indication of people’s opinions of this company.
If your company is in contract with this company I would strongly urge you to see a lawyer. You need to discuss options. Perhaps you could ask whether it would be a legal option to temporarily offer a bonus to people to pay you directly and in a lump sum, and therefore bypass them until you can get out of contract. You certainly want to discuss the pros and cons of a suit if they owe you money.
There are a lot of people in the business world who are feckless, or stupid, or inexperienced, or criminal…. or some combination of the above. There are also people who are competent and honorable. One of the most difficult things is to find companies with whom one can work that will not devalue your good name. Getting recommendations from people you know, paying for legal advice, researching the company through sites such as the BBB…. there are good ways to try to avoid problems, though none will be absolutely able to keep you fully safe.
I am sorry you are dealing with this. It really hurts to have your business hurt by something that has nothing to do with your skills or commitment.
