Do you use HRV (heart rate variability) to monitor client/athlete stress, fatigue and even burnout?
Heart rate variability (usually known as HRV) is a relatively new method for assessing the effects of stress on your body. It is measured as the time gap between your heart beats that varies as you breathe in and out. Research evidence increasingly links high HRV to good health and a high level of fitness, whilst decreased HRV is linked to stress, fatigue and even burnout.
Thanks Joanne, I haven’t used it personally – it was pointed out to me by a friend so I wanted to see if it’s being applied by some trainers. I understand it would be more suited to athletes rather than regular/casual people. It also, seems a bit effort intensive on the part of the client/athlete as they’d need to take measurements each morning so i’m not sure how practical and reliable it would be from that aspect.
