Do you think that certifications require enough continuing ed credits? Do you spend $$ on Cont Ed or as little as possible?
I spend money every year on continuing ed in the form of certifications or workshops. I agree with Dale that reading magazines is not as beneficial as attending a conference or course. When I go to an actual in person workshop I always come back with so much knowledge, practice and excitement that in turn feeds my clients. With that being said, I feel that trainers/instructors should do more than the minimum to keep their certs. In some cases, some slip through the cracks with no certifications or expired certifications. It’s understandable that the economy is tough right now, but that doesn’t keep the motivated trainer/instructor from going to workshops and other educational events. It definitely pays off in the end when you bring back knowledge, practice, and excitement which in turn leads to retention of your clientele and even new clientele based on what you are able to offer through your education.
