While i will help someone in the moment, or give professional advice without consideration of a fee, I do not market complimentary sessions. The underlying connotation I find uncomfortable. I want clients to come to me because they bellieve I can help them, and are willing to bet their money on it, not because it’s a freebie, and they have no commitment.
The club I work for offers one free session to any member who request it. I get paid a fraction of the normal rate to do them. It is a demo to try to interest them in buying a package. I have about a 30% success rate with Demos and selling packages but I’m happy to do it. It promotes my name in the club either way. Also, if I really take the time in the first few minutes to talk to them I can taylor the workout to fit their needs. When I worked for a private studio we did not offer any free sessions.
I was toying with the idea of offering a free 30 minute circuit workout with two time choices to choose from for my clients as a Christmas gift. It would only be one hour of my time and those who choose to participate could experience a kick butt group workout. Hopefully the gesture would be something they see as me thanking them for their business. I’m still contemplating it!
