It should be great fun and great education for both of you.
Going to a convention, especially the first time, is like drinking through a fire hose. There’s a lot coming at you at once and you can’t possibly remember it all. What I do is take some notes during class, but immediately after class I write down the two or things from that class that I think are most important to remember, and which client(s) or group(s) it will help.
Then, at the end of the training, I think of the 2-3 things I’m going to add Monday morning, for the next month or two. If I do this planning, my classes change a lot. If I don’t do this planning, I don’t implement as much.
Attending IDEA for the first time was a acceleration point in my fitness career. For your friend to begin her career and attend IDEA at the same time is fantastic! No certification requirement to attend. There is one benefit to getting the cert first, which is that all personal training certifications require continuing education in order to renew the cert. If she earns her CPT first, then the classes she takes at IDEA will count towards her continuing education hours.
She’s going to East? I’ll be at West. 🙂
she certainly can. There are no restrictions on who can attend. This will be a great way for her to start her career.
