As a competitive age-grouper,
I would like to get your feedback on whether you follow a training/fitness training plan leading up to your fitness events anywhere from a 1-mile road race, ┬¢ marathons, all the way to ultra-distance events?
I am trying to compile as many different opinions and your answer matters.

While I lift 2-3 days a week, my main/referred exercise is running! Throughout the year I aim for 25-30 miles a week with one speed or tempo run and the rest easy and enjoyable (sometimes with a run group).
With this base mileage I can run up to a half at anytime but I do follow a training plan (Hal Higdon) for my marathons. If I am aiming for a PR or want to race a race I have a more structured plan that I form from a variety of plans and my own experience in knowing what I can handle.
