As a competitive age-grouper,
I would like to get your feedback on whether you follow a training/fitness training plan leading up to your fitness events anywhere from a 1-mile road race, ┬¢ marathons, all the way to ultra-distance events?
I am trying to compile as many different opinions and your answer matters.

I try to stay in shape throughout the year. I participate in various events such as Spartan Races and GORUCK races/challenges, so staying in shape is very essential to me. Depending on the race and distance I modify my workout in order to get prepared for that event. I also serve as a fitness instructor for a Special Operations Unit back home, so staying in shape becomes necessary. The easiest way to go about this is to maintain a certain level of fitness throughout the year and then depending on the challenge/race which you are looking to compete at, twig your training program to help you optimize your performance for that particular event.
