Do you earn more money doing personal training at a gym or doing mobile training?
I do Mobile personal training and I have to say this… first 2 years are rough, but once you get your reputation and referral systems in place it’s super easy. Sessions are 50minutes long, car expenses are a tax write off. You need very little equipment to get the job done and most clients will end up purchasing their own stuff. Simple marketing technique, pick your favorite clients and market in that neighbourhood, you’ll end up training 2-3 clients back to back in the same area. Now find corporate gyms and train a few bootcamps there and suddenly you’re making real money. Here’s a typical mobile day for me: Client 1 @ 6:30am Client 2 @ 7:30am Client 3 @ 9:30am Corporate Bootcamp @ Noon. In between sessions I handle all my marketing and client care strategies. I hired 2 trainers to handle evening sessions so I can make a little more money without putting in the extra hours and they are doing 5 clients a day. Here is the financial breakdown
$65/session
Bootcamps $20 per person x avg 6people
Total Sessions a week = 15
Total Bootcamp a week = 5
Total Income in a 46 week year (yep I take plenty vacation) = $72,200
My Trainers Income to me is $17/session and $65 every bootcamp
Total Sessions a week = 20
Total Bootcamps a week = 10
Total Income in a 46 week year = $45,500
My Total Annual Income = $117,000
My Expenses:
Car per month including gas and extra cost for maintenance = $700
Marketing & Website Expenses per month = $300
Client Gifts & Trainer appreciation per month = $200
Misc/Re-cert/insurance per month = $100
Total Expense cost per year = $16,000 (rounded up)

I never made that in a gym.
