It is important to include a self-care routine into your wellness programming.

If you don’t take care of yourself, it is difficult to give your best to your clients.

Please recognize that self-care is greater that engaging in physical activity on a regular basis. Self-care includes all the components of wellness.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Best.

Hi Lynn. In my opinion, the best way to “deal with burnout” is to AVOID it. As trainers, we are primarily in the business of helping others prevent issues or health-related problems. We owe ourselves that same consideration. So, I say do things on the front-end that will help avoid burnout. What are some of these? For me it includes: not over scheduling my time; allowing for frequent breaks; eat/exercise and rest adequately; have “another life” outside of training; embrace and enjoy my outside interests (e.g. friends, family, hobbies, recreation); and ANYTHING ELSE that you may do for taking care of yourself.

I hope that this helps.

Hello Lynn,
Make time for yourself…work hard and play hard! If your’e not treating people the way you want to be treated….time for a break.

Wishing You Great Success!
Michael

Look for signs and divert before you go into full burnout.
Pay attention to your visceral reaction to people and situations
Read and stay tuned in.

Have a fun hobby away from work
Monitor your time and be ok with saying no!

Trainer burnout or client burnout?

I try to schedule simple “me” time on a regular basis. Weekend time away from work. Groups of friends to get into trouble with. Books. Etc.
