can you suggest some alternatives for the leg press machine if someone has a hip injury that causes pain
I have a client who fell off a horse when young, doesn’t believe she fractured anything but might have done ligament and/or other soft tissue damage. She can’t remember. However, she can’t use the leg press machine or the standing full elliptical machine, as her hips hurt a day later. What exercises would you suggest I avoid or include in her program design?
Hi Robin,
rather than suggesting exercises, the client should have it checked out. The fact that her hips are hurting after a leg press and the elliptical machine are symptoms of an underlying problem. Unless it is understood what that problem is, it would be unwise to dabble around. You may make things inadvertently worse.
Once things are properly diagnosed, there is still time to work around the issues if this is suggested by a physical therapists.
