I’m finishing up the study material for a ACE Health Coach cert and getting ready to take the exam. Currently, I do not hold a PT cert as my college degree was enough to waive the necessity of a prior certification. Once I have received my certification, can I perform personal training with clients at fitness centers?
I do plan on getting a PT cert as well; but being a health coach is more of what I want to focus on, so that is why I went for this cert first.
You do not mention what your college degree is in. Usually the ACE Health Coach certification is an additional certification for someone that has a Personal Trainer certification. You said that your degree waived this requirement. So, if you have a Exercise Physiology degree, you would be able to work with clients in an exercise setting and should be able to obtain insurance etc. There are some situations where the CPT just makes life easier as far as getting hired, getting insurance, etc.
In order to answer your question I need to know what your college degree is in and if the college bestowing the degree is accreditted.
