Can any Female Fitness Enthusiast tell me if they would join a
“Up-Scale, State-of-the-art” all Women’s Fitness Center, (opposed to a mixed gender facility, and PLEASE GIVE REASONS YOU PREFER A WOMEN’S ONLY FACILITY, OVER MIXED GENDER FACILITIES) complete with Smoothie Bar, Retail Sales of top Brand Women’s Fitness attire, Country Club Style Fashioned Locker Room, The best of the best exercise equipment, Personal Trainers, and the best line of Cardiovascular Equipment?
I joined a women’s health club back in the late 80s. I did so because my friend went there and recommended it. Many of the women there joined because their friends did, more than because they would not have gone elsewhere if their social group was not there.
I have worked in, and worked out in a large range of facilities, some more and some less upscale; I cannot say that the woman only aspect is a huge draw for me personally, but there were (some) women for whom it was. There were, for example, a few women who were muslim who liked being able to take off their head scarves. And for some of the older women who had not come up in the age of lifting weights they liked not feeling like they were being watched and judged. And I have known a couple of fairly militant feminists who liked the idea of women taking charge of their own fitness. Of course, this was thirty years ago….
Would you also have an all female staff? That would matter to some
I personally would not go out of my way to join an all female center. It just does not make any difference to me. Though I would also not make a point to avoid it. But of course, your demographics will make the biggest difference, as well as what sort of competition there is already in your area.
Sounds like you are in the planning stage…. good luck in your endeavor.
