Building a web based business
I have built a web and phone based platform for health coaching to provide individuals with information, guidance and support on their health and wellness related issues. It is ideal for those needing some extra guidance on health or for business travelers with varying schedules. I am transitioning into the business from previous employment as a telecommute health and fitness advisor for a national wellness company and exercise physiologist so I don’t have a current client base. Any suggestions on how I can start getting my name out there besides social media. I have done some things with our local Chamber of Commerce as well as plan to provide some free wellness screenings in the community. Thanks!
Hi Kathleen,
Happy Holidays! A good way to start is right where you are with IDEA! Are you using their ready made newsletter? Other companies and people can see you, your services and contact you accordingly and its already done monthly for you!
There are some sites such as www.Thumbtack.com, but you’ll pay $2.00 for every referral (often they will give you a refund if the person doesn’t view your bid).
I’ve just started using Groupon.com. Now I know it’s a financial setback in what you’ll make, but as a Personal Trainer/Nutritionist doing outdoor, online and studio training, I’m able to get my name/business out to thousands of people, whom I would probably never be able to connect with. Groupon does all your advertising, but they do take about 1/2 but in my book…it didn’t cost me a penny, so it’s a win-win situation for my business (Taylor Made Fitness)!
Also do you have a email list? If not, start blogging great info and build from there, adding them to your IDEA listing as well as any other newsletter companies that you use (I like Icontact.com).
Good luck and much success in your business!
Fitfully yours,
Lisa

Hi Kathleen.
Lisa is right by pointing right here to IDEA FitnessConnect. I clicked on your name and did not even see a website in your profile! This site here as a lot to offer in terms of connectivity to social media, and the wonderful thing is that it costs you absolutely nothing.
Since you want to be web based, you do not necessarily need contacts in your community even though that never hurts. Get on all the social sites like LinkedIn and complete your profiles.
I wish you success in your business.

Oh wow, thanks for that heads up about my profile page. I thought I had already completed so I have gone back and made sure to add all the information.
I do want to look into sending a newsletter from IdeaFit and I have already tried Groupon and Living Social but they said I couldn’t do a deal with them, for whatever reason.
Thank you so much for your advice!
Katie
