I run a lot of bootcamps outdoors and tend to use what s available for me. I have them do bench jumps, dips, burpees, incline work, lots of. Bodywheight training. For my first session I also like to keep it very simple so I can easily catch bad form or posture and fix it before we get to more advanced stuff, since I can t really give the individual attention I would when doing one on one work.
I have offered bootcamps both indoor and outdoor. Depending on the day and the theme of the class for my indoor classes I did a combination of battling ropes, kettlebells, bands, ropes, bodyweight exercises, stairs and running. I kept the same format for my outdoors except many of the days we were running form one location to another and perform some routines there or even on the way between locations. Hills and stairs were also a big part of the workouts. As far as music goes I only used it for my indoor classes. The number of participants I usually had in my classes were between 10 and 15 and the classes were offered 4-6 times per week.

I incorporate body weight resistance work along using 8 lb medicine balls for various drills.
We use stairways, benches, parks, sidewalk curbs, hills, tennis courts etc. Many times we use a huge write off board and list exercises to be done in between hill running. Lots of jump rope, lunges, squats, crab walks, partner drills, bear crawls, burpees, mountain climbers, figure 8’s , russian twists, thruster jacks, split jacks, jumping jacks, jump squats to name a few.
The ratio is 12 to one trainer. We run a 6 week on one week off program year round, offering 3 bootcamps a week.
I love being outside, it’s a whole new perspective.
