While I’d rather have people see the need to change their consumption habits on their own, if it helps a few people drink less sugary drinks and think about their consumption habits, then its a step in the right direction. No legislation is a catch all and its always better if people make their own healthy changes. But the facts are staggering. Obesity and the effects of such (increased disease, medical costs, decreased life expectancy, etc) are a growing concern. Hopefully this will help some to change their behaviors.
No. You can’t tell people what to eat and drink. Just by banning these types of drinks it will not solve the problem. Why not ban alcohol? Where do you stop? No matter how bad these type of beverages are, it will not change the attitude of those who consume them because the problem lies much deeper in our way of thinking, our culture, our human nature and our lifestyle.
